This app has saved me a lot of stress and anxiety. Fortunately, my iPad and iPhone have never been stolen, but they have been misplaced (usually at home) several times. One time when my iPad was missing, I searched its location, on my computer, and felt relieved to know that it was somewhere in my house. I then set off the alarm and found that it had fallen behind my laundry machine! I never would have normally looked for it there! Thank-you for this great app, it works really well!

*UPDATED* I have since removed this app due to serious issues not previously seen. 1) the app set to report at 1hour or more intervals depletes battery life between 40 and 50% maybe more. 2) the app is constantly consuming data for every blip it receives. In most major cities this could be all the time due to the number of cell sites or wifi hits it receives. Let me put it to this way, my 6Gb/month plan usually has 3gb left at the end of the month. With DL installed, it consumes the entire plan and more. With that said, there are some pluses and minuses with this app. Unfortunately, one of the most useful potential features was missed! The only shows 2 or 3 days worth of data, and storing at least 20 or 30 days would address some shortfalls and push the application into an area that does not exist. While the app does what is says, one can not ignore the sacrifice you must make. There is still huge potential for other uses. Strangely, the website for this app is NOT iOS friendly and forces the registered user to use a Mac or windows machine when locating your device. Google latitude integration is built in but sadly the transfer does not function well and reliability becomes questionable. This app needs polishing and more control on how much data/battery is allowed to use.

This app works great. Accuracy could be a little better but thats the state of the technology. Photo feature is fantastic - you know where your stolen phone is and you get a picture of who stole it! Also the ability to adjust the gps frequency is a great battery saver.

This app used to work but not anymore. None of its functionality works AND creators have not responded to any of my emails. BEWARE!

Excellent App. Easy to use and effective.

After losing my iPhone for 3 days (on the roof of my wifes car (thanks Otter Box!!) I decided to get this app to try. I had my friend "steal" the phone and gave him an hours start and then started the web based app. I located the phone easily and sent a message and when he read the message, it took his picture!!! One note on Tracking in emergency Modes... Emergency mode will kill your phone in less than 24 hours as its pushing a signal every minute so use that feature carefully. I would suggest that a 15 or 20 minute pushing feature be included in hte next update. I love this app!!!!!!!!!

I have tried quite a few similar programs. This one works accurately, does everything it says it does & is discreet. It is never not working, it can even be changed to 1 minute intervals for tracking & be changed back to the default of about 1/2 hour or less. I will give it 5 stars when the camera works which is a known issue, and when you can use the camera without the person hearing an alarm & it would be nice to be able to set the intervals to 3 min or 5 or 10 minutes.

How do we sign out of the app when we log on? Or is it always sign on once sign in?

For the last 7 months the app does update the location for more than 48 hours at a time. I get constant notifications that the it is not updating. I dont know why it is not updating the location properly anymore but it is not worth using when it is this unreliable.

The app is great when its not notifying me its not running anymore. Developers (Im sure they already know this) need to improve reliability.

Just verified that the site was still up and running, and the custom URL params still works, though I have to find a service to interpret the long/lat and show the position marker on a map (google map has changed since my last implementation).

Love the app!

The app was great until the latest revision. Now it is useless. I will explain why. The main use of the app is that in case of lost or stolen, you could remotely switch the GPS location reporting to "emergency" mode. In this mode, you get location in every 1 minute. The latest version also has the same facility, but with a BIG difference. The app developer removed the entire previous "fixed" polling options. Now the app reports a location only if there is a cell tower change. The remote (from web) switch to "emergency" takes effect only when the app (iPhone) contacts its web server to report a location change. Now imagine that you lost your iPhone in a store (or in a ditch). You could remotely enable "emergency" only in case the iPhone detects a change in location. For that to happen, the iPhone has to move. In the previous versions, we could enable "fixed polling interval", thereby you are guaranteed to get a location in every 10-30 minutes (or the emergency mode starts in 10-30 minutes). I am great fan on Google Latitude. The previous versions of this app reported the location very accurately. With the latest revision, the app reports the location only when it detects a change in the cell tower. Also the reported location is from cell tower triangulation, not from the GPS. Hence the location accuracy is very very bad. I still could not understand why the developer removed the "fixed polling interval", when lot many other similar apps continue to offer that. In nut shell, this was a great app, but has become completely useless after the latest revision So far so good (I wrote on Aug 19, 2010) Just bought this app in the morning... Works great.. Location is generally good if you are outside.. Location is extremely accurate on emergency mode... Noticed that the app updates at 1-5 minites interval several times even after I set the interval as 30 min..Only worry is that the service including the google latitude update is dependent on the webservice provided by the developer.. If the developer backs out/ stops the webservice , this app will become useless. There are some privacy issues as well... Agreed that the webpage at device-locater.com https, but how much care the developer will take to protect the data??

So accurate today it was possible to tell which room in the house Bought this app to locate lost phones and it works great. Now can avoid calling when they are at work also. You can have alerts when they move which might be good for kids. I do not need the alerts so do not use many features.

I agree completley with the prior reviews. I use to love this app but now it only update with tower change. I use to be able to put it on emergacy mode and it would track with zero issues. That is not the case any more. I will be looking for a new app.

Works great, accurate locations. It is nice to have multiple devices on one account.

To be honest I wasnt sure if this app was worth it until I "lost" my sons iPod. Apples Find My iPhone never picked up the device but fortunately I remembered I had this app installed. I went to the web site, turned the alarm on for the iPod remotely and voila. That annoying blaring alarm started going off under the couch cushions almost immediately. Thank you Device Locator. You saved me a lot of headache.

Look for an app that actually works and with customer support that actually provides support.
