*NOTE* This application will report in the background ONLY on devices that support multitasking!

FOR WEB DEVELOPERS:
The service lets you specify custom URLs which get polled every time your device checks in with the service. You can use this feature to post your location in a blog or just to keep a long running record of your travels on your own web server.

*NOTE*
This service is provided AS IS. No guarantees are made that this service will help you locate your device. No guarantees are made that the service will be available at all times.

Proper configuration is required to make full use of this service.

*NOTE*
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Pros and cons of Device Locator app for iPhone and iPad

Device Locator app good for

The App runs perfect and support mails are answered immediately. I would buy it again.
its working well with latitude after 2 hours of operation. ill comment on longer term reliability and effects on battery life in a few days. update 1: at hourly intervals, there is no noticeable effect on battery life. updates occur more frequently than hourly, probably due to handoffs. everything is still working after 24h.
I have been looking for an app just like this. It seamlessly tracks me throughout the day so I dont have to. With Google Latitude integration I can find out exactly where I was on any day at any time in the past. Absolutely perfect!
Pretty neat app.. Can track where your phone is, if you lose it you can set the alarm from the computer and it will make noise, or send a message from the computer. I like the battery stats as well.
I had some doubts but it really does what it says. I have set mine to 2hrs+tower change updates and have not seen any noticeable battery life issues. Alarm and push notifications work. Would be nice if site had a "locate now" option. Google latitude works. Not sure the emergency 1 min update works as it should but will test and update.
Works exactly the way I want it to. Perfectly solves the problem of there being no official Google Latitude client for iPhone. Well worth it.

Some bad moments

The APP will send the actual iphone position just when it changes cell towers. That is bad. It will not show you where the thief really is unless you had clicked "Emergency" before the tower changed. I suggest the developers to insert a third option, and that would be "ON DEMAND". So we could click a "On demand" button and get the actual position on that right moment independent of the next tower change.
It does not react at my iPhone 3GS. I got an account and so on, but the only thing is to see the message "Login successful" ob my iPhone. Every other setting change at the app shuts off the app immediatly. Am I the no-brainer? Dont think so, spent a lot of time to read help, reinstall, etc. Not recommandable.
Theft protection and reliable position finding....stays a wishful thinking with this app! FIRST: the app needs either wifi or 3G coverage to be able to send a position (this is quite logic)...so how on earth can it be of any help if you are either abroad or the thief is just clever enough to switch of the phones wifi or 3G? SECOND: if you want to trace e.g. your child / friend / love etc. abroad...as long as the one is not coincidentally logged in to a wifi hotspot somewhere or has (the rather expensive) data roaming activated, it will be IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE OR TRACE the respective device!!!
I like that, unlike the native Latitude app, this works in intervals (I use 10 minutes) between which the GPS receiver appears to be powered off. Hence, Device Locator saves battery lifetime. I would love, though, if it automatically upgraded to the aggressive "cell tower switch" method when the phone is connected to a charger and if "cell tower switch" could be turned on and off directly on the phone. (Review lowered to 1*, because DL2 is available now.)
This program kills my 3G & wifi Internet access The only way to get it back is to remove it from my iPhone. Please let me know how to get a refund, Thanks in advance Morry
This is a scam. I followed what they said but no chages. I think positive comments are from their sides initial investment.
